最后的精神慰藉

People do want to touch each other, to the heart. That’s why you have music. If you can’t say it, sing it. Listen to the songs of the period. Heavily pointed and romantic, and trying to say things that they couldn’t say in prose or even on paper. Weather’s fine, 7:30 pm, wind has died down, PS I love you.

If you can’t say it, sing it. Or paint it. Or write a poem that beats around the bush, but at its heart, cuts right to the quick. Or write a novel, tell a story. If that novel raises more questions than it answers, if it explores a truth bigger than the facts, it will give us insight into the mystery of the human journey, of being a human.

Art, song, communicate important things that can’t be plainly stated. Art expresses feelings, sensations, emotions, if it’s good.

Use your art to let us in on something that comes from deep inside you, that is borderline indescribable. You will enrich our lives. (And be ready too, to fail more often than you succeed, because that’s what being an artist is about.)

如果你无法用语言来表达，唱吧。或者绘画。或者，写一首婉转的诗；兴到高处，坦然直书你的心思。再或者，写一部小说，讲一个故事。如果故事提出的问题多于解释，如果它在探索那些超越事实本身的真理，它就会指引我们看破人生这个谜题。

艺术与音乐可以转述平凡的语言无法描绘的重要讯息。艺术可以表达善且美的感触，感官，和感情。

用艺术告诉我们你内心深处的感受，逾越不可察觉的疆界。你会丰富我们的生活。也要做好失败多于成功准备，因为这是艺术家的宿命。

古丽斯坦Gulistan的画，富有色彩而不辨轮廓，完全用直觉去表现图象，所以在古丽斯坦的画风中，只有一种很简单的形式，就是：幽秀华丽，大方新鲜。她的用笔很奇特，是近代的浪漫派，实在的内容，离我们目下所要求的相差甚远，可是她是远处的一盏明灯。

她的作品，不像瑪麗．羅蘭珊(Marie Laurencin, 1883~1956) 只表现女性的优美，又透露出女性的纤弱。她确有像宝石一样晶莹玉润的色彩，有像天鹅绒一样温馨的画面，有小鸟一样活泼的笔触，可是男性所特有的坚强与宏伟构成，在她的画面中已经老早就有了。
